Tours in Berhale

There are just three words which spring do mind when thinking about Afar Danakil Depression Tours, Dallol where colors seem to burst forth from the ground & you get to walk on earth the color of rust among chimneys spouting out acrid fumes of sulfur, Erta Ale the sloshing lave pool is located with a base diameter of 30 km and a 1 km square caldera at its summit and the salt caravan trail of Berahile.

Berhale is a village at the edge of the Danakil Depression, kind of half-way climbing up the Rift Valley Escarpment. One passes here on the way to or from Hamed Ela and Dallol sulpur springs.   The village is also a stop-over for the camel caravans that bring salt from Lake Asale to the markets of Mekele, high on the plateau outside the Danakil Depression

The village of Berhale situated at an altitude of around 1. 000m, this unexpectedly large and attractive town, set in a valley below stark twin peaks, is neither truly of the highlands nor truly of the desert. Nevertheless, which its combination of typically Tigraian stone houses and more austere Afar huts, it is an agreeable point of transition between the two natural realms. The town also serves as an important stop on the salt caravan trail between Danakil and Mekele.
