ETHIOPIA HISTORIC ROUTE TOUR ITINERARY (NORTH ETHIOPIA & HARAR) :-On Flight & Surface -9 days
Day 1: Arrive in Addis Ababa,
On arrival in Addis Ababa you will be met by our representatives and transferred to Hotel. In the afternoon, city tour of Addis Ababa.
Day 2: Fly to Bahir Dar: Transfer to the Airport for your flight to Bahir Dar (50 min). After check in, drive some 35 km south of Bahirdar to see the Blue Nile falls. After noon boat trip over Lake Tana to see the medieval monasteries over the islands such as kibran Gebriel and Ura Kidanemeheret. Overnight at hotel.
Day 3: Drive to Gondar: Drive to Gondar which is 175Km/ 120 Miles from Bahir Dar (takes 4 hours). Visit the medieval castle enclosure and the Church of Debre Berhan Selassie with its unique murals. Overnight Hotel
Day 4: Fly to Lalibela (40 min). On arrival visit the rock hewn churches of Lalibela. Overnight Hotel
Day 5: In Lalibela: Full day in Lalibela: visit the remaining churches and monasteries outside Lalibela. Overnight Hotel.
Day 6: Fly to Axum (40 min). On Arrival a city tour of Axum which includes the historical sites and the church of St Mary Tsion (Zion).Overnight Hotel
Day 7: Fly back to Addis Ababa
Visit a museum and if time permits the largest open air market Merkato. Overnight Hotel
Day 8: Fly to Dire Dawa and drive to Harer
Fly to Dire Dawa (55 min) the second largest city of Ethiopia. Upon arrival drive 55kms to the Walled city of Harar. Visit the Old City Wall, the Gates and the narrow streets lined with traditional Harari Gegar houses, the colorful Muslim and Christian markets (known for basketry), the Hareri museum, Rimbaud House, a fine traditional house dating from the period when the French poet Rimbaud lived in Harar. Finally visit the traditional Hararie house within the famous walled city. As evening falls local men attract wild hyenas to the city in a bizarre spectacle as they bravely feed these dangerous scavengers. In the evening you will visit this “Hyena Man”. Overnight hotel
Day 9: Fly Back to Addis Ababa
Drive to Dire Dawa where you will have a short stay then transfer to the airport and fly to Addis Ababa. Upon arrival transfer to hotel for shower, the rest of the day shopping: in the evening a fare well dinner in one of the traditional Ethiopian Restaurants. Then transfer to the Airport for Departure.
