HISTORICAL AND LOWER OMO VALLEY TRIBAL TOUR ITINERARY (15 days, On Flight and Surface 4 by 4)
Day 1: Upon arrival in Addis Ababa, You will be greeted with the company representative at the airport and transferred to Ghion hotel. (Depending on your arrival time we can arrange afternoon or after hour city tour)
Day 2: Addis Ababa – Bahirdar: Be transferred to the air port for flight to Bahirdar (50 minutes). Drive to visit the Water Falls of the Blue Nile falls. Afternoon, a boat trip on Ethiopia's largest Lake called Tana known for its middle age island monasteries and visit some of this monasteries. O/n Tana Hotel
Day 3: Bahirdar-Gondor: Drive to Gondar which is 175Km/ 120 Miles from Bahir Dar (takes 4 hours). On arrival city tour of Gondor that includes the medieval royal enclosure, the bath of Fasiledas and the beautiful church of Trinity. Goha Hotel
Day 4: Gondor – Lalibela: Fly to Lalibela (40 min). On arrival visit the rock hewn churches of Lalibela. Roha Hotle
Day 5: Full day in Lalibela: visit the remaining churches and one of the famous cave monasteries outside Lalibela Nakuto Laab church. Overnight Roha Hotel
Day 6: Lalibela -Axum: Fly to Axum (40 min). On Arrival a city tour of Aksum which includes the archaeological sites and the St. Mary of Tsion (Zion) church. Overnight Yeha hotel
Day 7: Axum –Addis Ababa: (130 min)
Fly back to Addis and the rest of the day is at Leisure or optional city tour in Addis. O/n Ghion Hotle
Day 8: Addis – Ariba Minch via Hosaena (432 km)
Drive to Ariba Minch via Hosaena. On the way visit Tiya Stelae field one of UNESCO world heritage site, Melkakunture archeological site and Gurage and Oromo people with their village. Overnight Paradise lodge
Day 9: Ariba Minch:
Full day in Arbaminch, game drive in Nech Sar National Park and Boat Trip on Lake Chamo known for spotting hippos and crocodiles as well as for birding. Paradise Lodge
Day 10: Ariba Minch – Jinka (245 Km)
En route visit Tsemay, Bana an Ari people and their villages. Key Afer Market (Thursday). Overnight Jinka Resort hotel
Day 11: Jinka-Mago-Turmi (300 km)
Excursion to Mago National park and visit the Mursi Tribe, know for their women lip plates and men for ritual stick fighting (donga). Drive back to Jinka and continue to Turmi via Demeka (Saturday and Tuesday Market at Dimeka) Over night Splendor Lodge
Day 12: Turmi (to Omorate 70 km one way takes 2 hours)
Excursion trip to Omorate , boat crossing the omo river and Visit the Dasenech tribe. Visit the village of Hamer tribe. (Turmi market on Monday and Thursday) and attend Tribal dance and bull jumping ceremony which is occasionally coincides and optional. Overnight Splendor Lodge
Day 13: Drive Back to Aribaminch (285 km).
En route visit the Erbore and Konso Tribe. Overnight Paradise Lodge
Day 14: Ariba Minch- Awassa (275 Km)
Detour to Dorze village to visit the Dorze people and their village. Continue driving to Awassa. Overnight Pina Hotel
Day 15: Awassa- Addis Ababa: (275 Km)
Visit the fish market in Awassa and drive back to Addis. On the way visit some of the rift valley lakes. The remaining day at Leisure or optional activity in Addis We dine traditional fare well dinner for our appreciation of the tour then back to home.
