ETHIOPIA CULTURAL TOUR ITINERARY :-OMO PEOPLE & HARAR -On surface & flight -14 days
Day 1: Upon arrival in Addis Ababa, You will be greeted with the company representative at the airport and transferred to the hotel. (Depending on your arrival time we can arrange afternoon or after hour city tour)
Day 2: Drive to Arba Minch: Early morning start drive to Arba Minch through the rift valley lakes of Ziway, Langano, Abjata and Shalla. Lunch break at Shahemene. Continued driving and arrive Arba Minch for two nights (510 Kms from Addis Ababa).
Day 3: Nech Sar National Park And Boat trip on Lake Chamo.
Morning drive to Nech Sar Park for game viewing and birding, After noon boat trip on lake Chamo, where one can find Hippos, Crocodile and variety of birds. overnight at Hotel.
Day 4: Ariba Minch- Jinka
Drive to Jinka, en route visit the Konso people with colorfully costumed dress, impressive terracing farming Land and unusually engraved wooden totem used as grave markers can be seen. Further along the route crossing the Woito River, visit Tsemay village. Continue driving to Jinka for overnight in Jinka Resort Hotel.
Day 5: Jinka- Mursi- Jinka
Drive to Mursi village to visit and appreciate culture of Mursi tribe they are renowned for the strange custom followed by their women who, on reaching maturity, have their lower lips slit and circular clay discs inserted. Proceed to Mago National Park. After a picnic lunch, you will have game drive to see big mammals and different species of birds and in the late afternoon drive back to Jinka. Overnight Hotel
Day 6: Jinka – Turmi:
After breakfast drive to Turmi through Dimeka for the visit of Hamer people and their village. Turmi is a small town, which is the base to visit the Hamer village. Overnight Lodge.
Day 7: Turmi – Murulle – Turmi:
Drive to Murule and visit the Karo People. You will be driving through the Hamer village, which is good opportunity to know the way of life of the Hamer people. The Karo Tribe are famous for body decoration, scaring and body painting. They reside by the side of the Omo River. Drive back to Turmi. Overnight Lodge
Day 8: Turmi –Omorate-Turmi:
Drive to Omorate to visit the Gelab (Dassanech) tribe inhabiting the riverbanks of Omo River. We cross Omo River by a small boat and to visit their village. The Gelabs are also known for their body painting as their neighboring. In the afternoon drive back to Turmi and visit one of the Hamer villages. O/n Lodge.
Day 9: Turmi – Yabello:
Drive to Yabello visiting the Arbore and the Tsemay people en route. After lunch stop at Konso, continue to the region of Oromo Borena and visit their village. The drive this day will let you to experience the life of the Oromo Borena People who is well known in cattle rearing and their 'singing well' from which they cater water to their own thousands of cattle by singing. Overnight Yabello Motel
Day 10: Yabello -Awassa:
Drive from Yabello to Awassa through a beautiful Sidamo mountains & coffee plantation. In the late afternoon visit the Hyenas around the loge. Overnight Hotel.
Day 11: Awassa -Awash:
Drive to Awash Sebat Kilo. En route we stop at Awash National Park for game viewing and visit the magnificent Awash Water Falls and finally proceed to Awash Sebat Killo for an overnight stay at Meridian Hotel.
Day 12: Drive to Harar:
Drive from Awash Sebat Killo to Harar. We will be driving through the Hararghe Mountains and we will see plenty of coffee and ‘chat’ fields. The region is well known in growing one of the best qualities of coffee in the country. Proceed driving to Harar. Overnight hotel.
Day 13: In Harar:
The same day you visit the colorful Muslim and Christian markets (known for basketry), the museum, and the traditional Hararie houses situated within the famous walled city. In the evening visit the hyena man while he feeds hyenas (wonderful experience). Overnight hotel
Day 14: Fly Back to Addis & Evening departure:
Drive to Dire Dawa for flight back to Addis Ababa. Evening we will have a fare well dinner in one of the Ethiopian restaurants for cultural dinner and dances from the different ethnic groups. Then after transfer to the airport for flight back home.
